As you wander through the grounds of Heidelberg University, a profound sense of intellectual heritage permeates the air. You can almost feel echoes of the footsteps of luminaries such as Hannah Arendt, Mileva Marić, Robert Schumann, Jürgen Habermas and Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, who once traversed these very paths. The legacy they left behind, etched in the very fabric of Heidelberg, serves as a constant reminder of the boundless possibilities that unfold within the academic realm.
As part of the project PoPMeD-SuSDeV, our team carried out a one-month research secondment at Heidelberg Institute of Global Health (HIGH). We provided an intensive "Quantitative Research Methods" course for PhD students lasting from 17th of June to 16th of July. In addition to connecting with the students, we also had engaging interdisciplinary discussions at the seminar titled "The Nexus Between Carbon Emissions Dynamics and Climate Action Narratives in Japan", and were captivated by the new advances in the field of neuroscience while visiting the laboratory of the Core Facility for Neuroscience of Self-Regulation: https://cnsr.uni-heidelberg.de/
This unique experience fostered an environment of interdisciplinary collaboration and instilled a profound appreciation for the interconnectedness of quantitative research methods and the fascinating domain of neuroscience working hand in hand to achieve sustainable development in our society.
